"My students make art out of anything and everything available. They have brilliant ideas but our art program lacks the supplies for them to create. I teach 375 very inventive pre-kindergarten to 8th grade art students in a low-income school. They need essential materials before they can see themselves as the artists they are.

We have just begun to treat the art room as a true artist's studio in which the students choose what materials to use in creating their artwork. My students have a broad range of interests and artistic abilities. Each thrives when using their own creativity as fuel. In the art studio, centers are arranged with different supplies so that students can work at their own paces according to their own interests. Students learn from one-on-one instruction, working in groups, and class demonstrations. However, our classroom needs supplies to function as a place where artists go to create.

We need basic supplies such as paper, watercolors, glue, paint dispensers, chenille stems, and markers. My students are very resourceful with the materials we already have. They would certainly use these supplies to their fullest potential in painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture centers. Dispensers would also allow students to get the materials they need quickly. The art studio ought to be a place for students to explore. These supplies will ensure that.

With your donation, the young artists at my school will be able to present quality artwork that they have created independently, something to hang on the wall, not just temporarily on the fridge.

My students need basic art supplies such as paper, markers, watercolors, chenille stems, a paint dispenser, and glue. The cost of this proposal is $414, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Eileen, Greg, Kathryn, Sara, Becky, Julie, Monica and Anonymous Donor,
The supplies that were bought with your generous donations are used every day to enhance the quality of student artwork. Students from ages 3 to 14 use the supplies to make art about their families, friends, hopes, thoughts, and dreams. They have been creating pipe cleaner sculptures, inkblots, marker drawings of abstract and realistic work, and fantastic watercolor paintings. Students also are able to replenish the supplies themselves with the use of paint dispensers.

It is very clear that our students are proud of the work and the quality they are able to achieve with the new supplies. They are eager to show their teachers, their parents, and each other what they made and learned using these supplies.

We are very grateful for your donations and our students' artwork is reflective of what has been achieved with the supplies you allowed us to have. Art is often one of the first disciplines to feel the affects of budget cuts, and I can guarantee you that our students have felt nothing but thanks.

With gratitude,
Ms. K.

Dear Eileen, Greg, Kathryn, Sara, Becky, Julie, Monica and Anonymous Donor,
I want to deeply thank you for your donation. Every student will benefit from these supplies. Recently, our students have been using many colors of construction paper for sculptures, collages, and dioramas. Knowing that they have more paper en route will surely result in more artworks. Every marker, drop of glue, and piece of paper will be used with care and handled with love. Again, thank you.

With gratitude,
Ms. K.
