String Quartet Rock Band! part 3

My students need two cello pick ups and one bass pick up, to be shared by 15 cellists and bassists, for string quartet rock bands.

My district has just begun a new string orchestra program. I teach in three elementary schools giving violin, viola, cello and bass lessons to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. I am very lucky to start this program and to have such wonderful students. In order to attract and recruit more students to the string orchestra I feel like I need to mix up the curriculum a little. My students love pop music and rock bands, and what better way to get them playing classical instruments than to put them in a "rock quartet.” Violins, violas, cellos and basses can be hooked up to amplifiers the same way as guitars. Through pick ups, cords, distortion pedals and amplifiers we can create a rock sound and learn the fundamentals of classical music all at the same time. The skills they would learn through playing contemporary music will transfer directly to their classical music. This project is very important to me because I know it will bring many students into the world of strings. I plan to spend equal time on classical orchestra music and their rock quartets, it will not be a one time gimmick. Students will even help arrange and compose their own music. I have been dreaming of these rock quartets for many years, please help me to make this dream come true. Thank you!
