How do you open the world to children who live in portables and go to school in portables? An LCD projector would be so helpful for my 2nd grade portable classroom of 17. We are a very high-need school with 97% on free or reduced lunch.

Portable classrooms are often overlooked for technology additions such as an LCD projector. We have one Smartboard per grade, but none will be placed in the portables. Smartboards are too big and impractical was the reply I received when I asked for one from my principal. We are a bedroom community to another state's city; therefore, the community itself is too poor to fund extra needs of our school. I have no other sources to go for needs. I spend a lot of my own money for technology i.e. laptop, printer/copier, ink etc., but this is one thing that is more than I can afford that is strictly for the use of my classroom.

If my students cannot access a smartboard, an LCD projector would be the next best thing. Power Points and cyberweb would open up the world to my students, who seldom get out of the portables in which they live. This would add a whole new dimension to our classroom. I have so many lessons down-loaded just waiting to be taught using this wonderful technology.

I am committed to this community's educational needs. I will continue to get what is necessary for my students to learn and have a world knowledge that is more than poverty and eyesores. I ask the donors on this site to consider what I have said and help me to meet their needs. I am very thankful for a place to come and present such a great need as this. Thank you very much.
