I teach 5th grade math to 75 kids in an old mill town in NH. We currently have over 1,000 students in our middle school and my students are the youngest grade.

I have many students who are facing obstacles when trying to understand math. I am trying to help students look at math from a different perspective, and I think that using a camcorder may be the perfect hook for them.

My students will be working on math projects this year that will help them show their knowledge base. We will be using this camcorder to study angles of buildings, conduct surveys, and record skits created to explain procedures (such as order of operations).

You will make math more accessible to my students by helping us with this goal. Bringing the real world into the classroom is a valuable tool. This will help the students transfer the skills back to the real world as well.
