It's Electric Boogie Boogie

In our fifth grade class, we are investigating a unit of electricity. We use a literature based study by utilizing young reader novels. This year the fifth grade will have at least 30 students in two or three classes.

Our school district is in financial need. We are in the middle of an audit to review our budget. Our school budget last year was frozen before we had the chance to buy all our supplies.

We are in need of two class sets of the book titled "The City of Ember". Our students love to read and it would be a great way to broaden their horizons. A great deal of our students come from a very low economical standing and it would be a struggle for each student to purchase the book on their own. The class sets will last over the years, sharing and passing along the love and reading, learning, discovery and kindness of others. This book will help the students to make a connection to our unit of study through literature. The students will developed an understanding of conservation and science skills as well.

Your help and support will make my students realize that others in the world care about them- care for their education- even if their own parents or families don't.
