Seeing like a scientist is the key to a better future for our high need community of learners. Our school is located in a low income urban environment in a fairly large city in Florida. Our school is a magnet school for the performing arts attracting students from across our district, however, most of our students live in the surrounding neighborhood.

Our science kit contains only one pair of safety glasses making most exciting experiments into demonstrations. These students are very curious and excited about science. They need first hand lab experiences to make science real and relevant to their lives.

A set of 25 safety glasses would make a huge difference in my science instruction. Students will be able to manipulate science equipment themselves, investigating their own questions and forming their own solutions. The simple addition of a pair of safety glasses for each child will help my students feel like a scientist and ultimately think like a scientist.

You will make it possible for my students to visualize a future in a science field by participating in first hand science experiments safely. Without these glasses there are many critical investigations that students will only passively participate in as a demonstration. Your help could mean the difference in a child's life opening up a world of possibilities and capabilities that may have never been realized.
