Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We teach 180 wonderfully inquisitive kindergarteners who LOVE science! More than half of our students are English Language Learners and receive free or reduced lunch.

Little children have naturally inquisitive minds and need to explore the world hands-on to understand how it works. Science instruction at an early age helps children in this exploration. Sadly, we currently have NO science curriculum for kindergarten at our school. Our kindergarten team would like to address this gaping need, and we need your help to do it!

We would like to purchase the wonderful hands-on science kits that Lakeshore, a leader in educational material design, recently created in conjunction with the "California Kindergarten Association." The "Earth Science Kit" includes materials and directions for experiments about the earth, rocks, and land forms. The "Physical Science Kit" contains materials for doing experiments with magnets, colors, and object properties. Both kits contain prediction charts, KWL charts, and graphic organizers to document the data from our experiments. We will use these kits to teach kindergarten science standards.

Our K team needs your help to ensure that the 180 kindergarten students at our school have a solid foundation in their scientific understanding of how the world works.
