I am a second grade teacher in Texas. I am an ESL teacher with a self-contained classroom. I teach language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Fancy writing? Fancy words? My second graders want to be wonderful writers. They know they can improve their writing by improving their "word choice."

The "Fancy Nancy" book series is about a little girl named Nancy. Fancy Nancy likes fancy clothes, fancy accessories, and fancy words. These books teach students new vocabulary words. Fancy Nancy will inspire my students to use bigger, fancier words in their writing and in their stories. I am planning a Fancy Nancy unit of study. We will make a wall of "fancy" words and the students will be challenged to use those words in their own writing. To conclude the week, we will come to school dressed in our fanciest clothes and we will share our fancy writing. After I finish the unit with my classroom, I will share the books with the other second grade classrooms.

Your generous donation will allow my students to improve their writing and enjoy good literature all at the same time. We would love to send you a story that we've written using "fancy" words and we'll send pictures of our "fancy" party. Your donation will bring a love of reading and writing to my second graders.
