Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 6th Grade at a middle school in California. It is a high-need community, with 100% of students on free lunch. I teach self-contained, meaning I teach all of the subjects to one group of students. My students are Magnet students, with a special interest in health-sciences.

At school, we face a shortage of resources. There are very few class sets of good literature. Many of my students are struggling readers who are several grade levels behind in their literacy level. We need a ton of exposure to challenging, interesting books!

Reading the book "The Egypt Game" will benefit my students. It connects to the Social Studies curriculum, where students are learning all about Ancient Egypt. They will develop literacy skills and grow in their love of reading and learning. It will help other classes as well if we can get get our library of class sets growing!

Your help will make it possible for my students to enjoy a wonderful book that will deepen their growing knowledge of ancient Egypt. Our class appreciates your partnership in our learning!
