My students need two digital cameras.

Documenting Student Work. I teach Ceramics, grades 9-12. It is vital that each student document his/her process and final projects. Using digital cameras, students can create a slide show of their procedures along with pictures of their final works. These photos can be used for classroom critiques and also be submitted for use in on-line portfolios. Most of my students do not have their own cameras as they are from an inner-city high school that lacks funding for extra equipment.

I have found that students like to see their ideas and projects presented in spectacular methods such as PowerPoint and other presentation programs. They are able to better discuss and explain their work when it is viewed large for all to see.

Digital cameras allow students to create exciting presentations about the work they are doing. A picture is worth a thousand words. In this age of technology in the classroom, a camera is important tool that enables students to share their creative ideas and projects. With on-line portfolios and galleries, students will be able to submit their works for all to see.

Technology plays a vital role in how students interact with each other and society at large. A digital camera would give them a voice to share their thoughts,dreams and aspirations through the use of visual media.
