Giving Students Books They Love To Read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My students need 7 bins of fantastic leveled books that they can read on their own on their own levels.

I teach third grade inclusion (special education and general education in the same classroom) in the Northeast section of DC. My school is locate in a community that faces many economic and social challenges. My school is a charter school that focuses on character education and high academic standards. In my classroom I have even higher academic and social standards for my students and I know that all of my students will be successful no matter the challenges they face.

My home is full of books that I have read. I could not imagine my life without books. My students go home and have no or very few books at home. While we have books at school, many are not on my students reading levels. Imagine my student's frustration when trying to read a book that is too easy or too hard for them. I cannot teach my students the pure joy of reading if I do not give them books they will love. My students have every sort of challenge when they walk in my classroom. Some come hungry, some come tired, some come dirty, but I want them to know that when they walk in my door they are safe and will be given the best.

I need help getting books that are on my students reading levels. This is so difficult because my students have such a wide range of levels. The library I have selected would give every student at least five books at their own level to read and work on so that they can then move on to the next higher reading level. This library will show my students what books should look like and also show them how exciting books can be!

By helping me bring this library to my class you will help bring the love of reading to my students. You will make it possible for my students to become life long lovers of reading! You really can make the difference in my students lives!
