The Responsive Classroom Approach says the social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum.

In order to build a safe and caring classroom environment, students need a common place where they can come together as one. By having a carpet in the classroom, it can be a place where children can participate in Morning Meeting and stimulating discussions during mini lessons.

This carpet will benefit students because it will provide them the comfort to learn. When students feel safe and comfortable in their classroom, they are able to take risks.

Having a simple carpet in the room can change the entire environment, and thus change the learning that takes place within the classroom.
