Disc Golf For A Diverse Student Body

My students need 9 disc golf goals and 20 sets of disc golf discs to learn the basic rules and scoring of golf/disc golf.

I am a teacher at a school with a very diverse population. Many of my students come from low income, single family homes.

Many of my students have expressed an interest in playing golf, but the lay out of our facilities is not conducive to the sport in its traditional form. By setting up a disc golf course, I can introduce my students to the basic rules, etiquette, strategies, and scoring of the game safely without having to teach the difficult (and sometimes frustrating) technical aspects of traditional golf. Also, by playing disc golf, the students who have never swung a golf club will experience much more success and confidence/enjoyment.

I need 9 disc golf goals and twenty sets of discs. If provided with these materials, I could set up a course whereby the students would play the "front nine" one day and I could set up the "back nine" for the next day. The unit I would teach would consist of several days and include an introduction, rules/etiquette, skills, practice, and a simulated tournament.

By supporting my project, you will make it possible for me to introduce my students to a sport many have expressed interest in but have never had the opportunity to play.
