Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher who teaches in a lower economic community. My students come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Many speak other languages as their primary language at home.
Do you like to read? If you do, that habit was acquired when reading was fun and enjoyable to you. Not all students like to read the typical fiction stories that they are required to read, or the dry textbooks that the school uses to teach everything. Some students like to read about real things that interest them. Science is an area that interests most 3rd grade students. I want to provide reading materials for all my students on the science topics I teach. I also want to use these materials to teach the fundamentals of reading.
I am asking for someone to please donate nonfiction, high interest science books and reading activities for my classroom. I will be able to use these materials in my instructions as well as review of certain concepts when they are taught. The materials will also be available for the students to read and use when they desire.
If you can please help my student by providing these nonfiction, high interest reading materials to the classroom I would greatly appreciate it. My hope is that with these materials, the students will develop better reading skills and vocabulary, and enjoy reading. If you can help us, please do. Thank you!
