In Dire Need of Books

My students need books that they will enjoy and learn from throughout the entire school year.

Ms. Romaniello PS 251 Paerdegat

Brooklyn, NY Grades PreK-2

Hello, I teacher first grade. My school is working on becoming better and better every year. My school is a Title 1 school and over 86% of our students receive free lunch. My students love to read. I notice that every year they work extremely hard to get better and better each day.

Unfortunately, there are not enough books in the classroom library to go around. Each year my students get bored with the little books that I have in my library very quickly. I would really like to have plenty of books by different authors, but neither the school, nor myself, have the proper funds for this. I know that my students want and deserve more books.

I know that the following list of books that I am asking for will help my students greatly to start the school year in the right direction. They need to read many different books by particular authors to learn about the writing and reading process. Eric Carle, Angela Johnson, Donald Crews and Kevin Henkes are wonderful, and age appropriate, authors I know my students will enjoy to learn from.

Please make all this possible, so my students can gain a solid background, and ultimately, the love of books that I was given as a first grader. Thank you for your consideration.
