I teach all subjects to students in the 5th grade in a school that is improving but has not yet met all of our mandated goals. We have a high number of "needy" students

I need to breathe life into, and energize my classroom with some up-to-date technologies that will motivate and engage students. At this time I have a data projector and want to enhance and expand our presentations with a document camera.

A document camera is a 21st century tool that students and teachers can use for displaying real-time images of objects (textbooks, 3-D items, photos, computer images, etc.) to liven and engage participants during presentations in the classroom. A document camera is basically a small camera mounted on a stand which is hooked up to an LCD projector. Then, a presenter is able to place objects or documents under the camera and project its image onto a screen for the audience to see. The camera helps turn your classroom in to a more spontaneous, dynamic and interactive learning environment. The presenter has the power to focus the audience's attention on nearly anything. No more transparencies, no more oversize sketches taped to a wall. You can place a regular sheet of paper on the surface instead of using transparencies. There is no need to make transparencies in advance.

There are 100's of uses for document cameras. I sincerely believe that the use of a document camera, along with my video projector, and future interactive board, can revolutionize and revitalize my teaching, therefore, revitalize my students joy of learning.
