Students are more present when the presentation dazzles. I currently teach all subjects in 4th grade in a high needs school. We were recently named a SINI school which means we are in need of improvement. This status increases the accountability of all aspects of teaching. I believe that students today are more visual learners due to the overload of images that they are flooded with daily through television, computers, and video games. I believe the best way to reach these learners is through visual presentations.

Being a high needs school teachers are faced with all kinds of challenges. We receive the basic supplies but lack any upgrades that would help bring our teaching up to date.

I know that a document camera/digital presenter would help make my teaching visually more accessible to the types of learners I see each and every year. Every subject area could come to life with the addition of this tool. Students themselves would be able to use this to model their process in experiments in science, or their approach to problems in mathematics. In addition students would be able to share their favorite passages in stories read with the whole class just by facing it down on the presenter. Writing could be shared in partnerships or whole groups. How to projects would come to life. This addition would enliven teaching and learning in my classroom for years to come.
