Give a child a camera and you open the lens of life to all. My sixth grade students abound with creativity and enthusiasm when a task involves digital media, but rarely have the chance to test their skills due to lack of necessary tools.

As the eldest grade in the school these 6th graders have knowledge and ability with technology to create outstanding digital media projects. Digital video recorders before now have been costly and unavailable to elementary students. These flip video cameras assist with the task of digital storytelling without being costly or too technical.

Students in the year 2008 learn in different ways and expect to be able to share information that they have learned in their way as well. Digital learners share their knowledge best digitally. Allowing students to use digital media to report, tell a story, and be creative with knowledge that they have learned is imperative to reaching the needs of the students in my classroom. This equipment, coupled with the computer resources in our school will allow this type of learning to happen.
