My students need 2 high-quality, condensor microphones to record singing tests, practice CDs, scholarship auditions and choir festival audition CDs.

This is an opportunity to let great choir students hear and assess the quality of their singing. I teach 10th-12th grade students who invest as much time in singing as their schedule allows in this age of high stakes testing and increased graduation requirements. These students earn vocal scholarships to great colleges each year as well as being featured in their choirs at different conventions throughout each academic year.

Although our choir program is large in students, we are small in budget dollars for those students. 95% of the school choir budget goes to music purchase and copy supplies leaving nothing for improving the sound system or technology equipment. High-quality microphones to go with our recording system in the choir room would increase the educational experience of each choir student.

The 2 microphones requested in this proposal are the best in the choir recording industry. Students will be able to send in studio quality recordings for scholarship auditions as well as opening other audition possibilities. The choir program also sends in auditions to perform at choir conventions across the region. This technology will also allow rehearsals to be recorded, analyzed and used to improve student achievement.

Your help will ensure that my students accurately hear the music they create on a daily basis. You will make it possible for my students to be competitive in auditions, record singing tests and enjoy the music they perform. This project will make a real difference in the choir program for years to come.
