My students need these items so they can create a Photo Story of what it is like to live in the projects. We need 3 digital cameras, photo paper, a photo printer and construction paper to mount their photos on. I will be be working with the students in the afternoon, and I will be there with the cameras. I will be leaving the photo printer at school so we can see the pictures we took the day before, and decide if they should go into the books. I am hoping to have some of the books entered in our local media festival. As kindergarten students, I feel this would be an excellent project for them to work on.

I am a kindergarten teacher in an inner-city school. 97& four students are on the free-lunch program, so any donations I can get for this class would be wonderful. I am a late in life career-changer, having finished my master's in Early Childhood Education on July 29th. These students I work with would be so proud if they could do somethings like this, and then this could be a continual project in my kindergarten class. I already spend around an extra $1000 on my children for school supplies, and treats for when they behave. I have to teach my children social responsibility, manner, respect because these things are not taught in their homes. Our population is mainly single mothers raising children, and the mothers can be as young as 21. It is so sad that these children have no role models, and what I am trying to do is use myself as a role model.
Because I already spend an extra $1000 on things for my kids, as I call them, any know that many of our Georgia Performance Standards would be covered with such a project and using a camera would be an experience for many of my students. In the past I have let the student take a picture or two of the classroom with my digital camera. I then bring it home and print out the pictures on copy paper, and these students become so excited because they took the picture. I know that if I let them take pictures of their home, family, pets and school they would really get excited. Then to create a book, with their writing in it giving each photo a one line description, they would be so excited they would not be able to contain themselves.
We need a few digital camera, photo printer, photo paper, construction paper and paper cutter so these students can get involved in their community and learn more about it. If I had the permission I would even take my students to other parts of the city, and then have them compare what they have to other parts of the city. These students usually come from large families, so they hardly ever get anything that is new. To create this book would mean everything to these young, future leaders of our city.
Your donation will enable my students to develop a skill that no one would take the time to teach them. They may become great photographers later on, plus they will be able to show that even kindergarten students can do great things. Any donation you can make to the cause would be greatly appreciated.
