Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am very excited to be moving to a new grade this coming school year. I will be teaching PreK at a Title 1 Public School. The students at my school mostly live in apartments and come from low income families. We do have a small percentage of students that come from a neighboring parish due to closed down schools from Hurricane Katrina. The majority of the students at my school receive free or reduced school lunch.

I would like to give my students and their families an opportunity to be able to have some memories that will last a lifetime. How often do parents really come to school to see their children in action? Most can't because they are very busy working. Children are very precious and we should not want to miss anything that is important in their lives.

I am requesting a digital camera for my classroom. There are many activities that a camera will be useful for in my class. I can use the camera to take pictures to be used for various art projects or cards in my class. We will be able to see how the child has grown throughout the school year with a beginning of year picture to an end of year picture. On field trips, I will be able to take lots of photos of all of the exciting things we do. I also plan on starting a class web blogger page this year where I will be able to post pictures and short videos of activities from our school days. The main reason I am interested in getting a digital camera for my class is to be able to create an end of the year CD of all the pictures I have taken throughout the year. This CD will allow the parents and students to remember everything they did while in my class. They will be able to take these CDs and have their pictures printed or view them from a computer.

Your help will ensure that my students truly do have memories that will last them a lifetime. They will not just have one copy of the official "school picture", that most of them do not buy anyway because they are too expensive for what you get. They will have a years worth of fun, in action, cute pictures. I want my students to love learning and to be able to remember every step they have taken.
