Ms. P. South Park Elementary Center
South Park, PA Grades 3-5

I am a fourth grade teacher and team leader. I teach in a Pennsylvania middle class school in a typical suburban area. That is our biggest fall back. We do not fall into the needy or the rich and influential which means we get nothing. This site is a prime opportunity for the middle child, the middle class, the middle of the road to have an opportunity to shine and receive donations from national groups that want to help ALL children.

Our principal is a huge proponent of using technology to enhance learning. The unfortunate part is that we can never afford the high tech devices. The visual presenter came as an idea when I was told that I was possibly going to have a visually impaired student. This presenter machine would work wonders for the class as well as this child. It will blow up documents the size of a wall and the possibilities are endless.

The visual presenter machine is a small camera that sits on a tripod. It attachs to your computer as well as a video projector. Anything you place in front of the camera gets blown up to gigantic proportions. You can use it the same as an overhead projector with documents, but also artifacts, books (which would be blown up for group reading instead of having to purchase multiple copies of one book), science experiments ( the kids will be able to see the most minute details). This is a very exciting piece of technology.

Middle class, middle academic children rarely get the benefit of grants etc because we are truly stuck in the middle. This is a piece of technology that will benefit many students from the visually impaired to the struggling readers to the inquisitive minds. This is an opportunity for you to help the group of children that are always left out, always stuck in the middle.
