4th Grade Researchers Need New Reference Materials!

My students need 10 informational books on Florida, along with updated and kid-friendly encyclopedias, atlases, and almanacs.

I teach 4th grade at a Title I school in Florida. We have been an "A" school for the past 5 years.

4th graders spend a lot of the year studying Florida history. Every year we do lots of research on Florida's landforms, cities, famous people, endangered animals, and state symbols. I know that kids can always look information up on the Internet but it's still important for them to know how to use actual reference materials like encyclopedias and almanacs! My students desperately need some new reference materials of their own! The encyclopedias in my classroom are old, mismatched, and pieced together from about 3 or 4 different hand-me-down sets. With four or five other 4th grade classes studying the same curriculum, resources are often unavailable at the library. Having some new materials in my classroom would allow my students to have a lot of the information they need right at their fingertips!

I need to start building my "Florida section" in my classroom library, so I need lots of informational books on Florida. I also need some reference materials for the students to use, like kid-friendly encyclopedias, almanacs, and atlases.

With your help, my students will have a ton of brand new resources to use throughout the year to aid them in their Florida research. Your donations will also help my future students as well! Thank you!
