Imagine living in a house with no windows. That is what it is like for students who do not have access to amazing, quality literature.
Being a first year teacher, I lack the resources to create a classroom library. Books, above all else, have the power to do great things. I want my class to be a place where students can let their imaginations fly because they have access to books that can empower them to do so!
My philosophy on education is grounded in personal connections. Reading comprehension is supported in my class through literature circles, where students are taught to actively engage and interact with the text through personal connections. This makes learning meaningful and helps foster a love of learning...it's authentic. That is my goal each and every day; make the connections to keep learning personally relevant.
