Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

E-vision New Strides for Special Education Students. This is my first year in a primary special education class and I want to make this the best year ever for my first, second and third grade students. My students all have learning disabilities that require a smaller environment and specialized instruction that will address their specific needs to meet their goals. This class has students that can accomplish the same curriculum as their peers given the tools and strategies to do so.

California has adopted a new Math curriculum that is suitable for the “digital natives” that are in our schools today. My Special Day class will be using the same curriculum that the other students in the school will use. Any tool that will allow them to understand and use the world around us to learn is a large benefit.

To help accomplish the goal of making this curriculum assessable to all my students, a Document Camera would enable me to share most anything! Students would be able to see demonstrations with an endless variety of manipulative, enlargements of text book pages. This technology could make learning, reteaching and mastery of Math more easily reached for all of my students.

Your help will enable my students to make the real life connections that will bring home the complex concepts that can be so elusive in Math for a special day class. These children deserve every chance and opportunity to expand their knowledge and involvement in education. They come to school eager to accomplish the same goals any student has. This technology will also be useful in any subject taught in the classroom.
