I am a 5-6 grade Science and ELA teacher in a small rural school in Upstate New York. Our School has gone through many changes in the past few years. We have consolidated three elementary school buildings into one and overcame many obstacles.

Our students are from rural communities and with the cost of things today it is difficult for the families to buy all of the materials needed for the classroom.

I would like to introduce my students to the interactive notebook this year. They have not used this type of notebook before. I would like to combine it with the novel The Wizard of Oz to enhance their love of reading and to incorporate reading comprehension skills. It is difficult to teach these skills, So I would like to do it in a different way.
