Listening To Literature

My students need a mobile listening center.

First graders desperately want to learn to read. Literacy and reading are strong components of the 1st grade curriculum. My first graders are eager to read. I teach ESL and GT students.

Our classroom is located in a temporary building with limited space and seating. There is not enough room for a table or extra desks to set up a small listening center. My students would love to go to a area in the classroom and listen to and model how good reading sounds.

Children who develop a strong reading foundation in 1st grade develop stronger vocabulary skills and become better readers and writers. The love of reading is planted during the primary years. I want to continue this momentum through developing a Literacy Listening Center. A Childcraft Mobile Listening Center is small enough to set up in a corner of the room for 1-6 students to sit around and listen to their favorite literature stories.

Your help will inspire my students to become stronger readers. First grade is the foundation to develop strong reading skills and you will provide a pleasurable tool to help build that foundation.
