Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Quick and Snappy Bulletin Boards. In my five years of teaching, I have learned a lot about providing a culture of success and pride to help the struggling students at my under funded school in Harlem. In the small school, I am the only Spanish Teacher in the High School and teach grades 10-12, but only Levels 1 and 2 (there isn’t enough funding to go beyond the basic graduation requirements). Many teachers give endless hours and often buy a lot of their own supplies, because of the small status. The school has improved dramatically over the past five years, but that change takes time. Anyone knows that when you enter any school building you should see rich, engaging bulletin boards that display student success and updated student work. Currently, the teachers pay for the bulletin board paper out of their allotted Teacher’s Choice money, money that could be spent on other classroom instructional needs. Having a rack of bulletin board paper provided will provide the opportunity for the teachers to create and maintain really nice bulletin boards to enhance the tone of the school. If you are a donor that would like to help make the environment of our school better for the students, you should fund this project. The brightly colored paper will heighten morale at the school for the teachers and help the entire school community and many future students and teachers. Thank you for your consideration!
