Books feed curiosity! So, of course, kindergarten kids love books! I teach kindergarten at a low-income school where many students do not have their own books at home. They beg me to reread their favorite books and often ask for more books about a topic of interest so they can learn and know more about the world around them.

Kindergarten is often a child's introduction to the exciting world of reading. Many of my students have never been outside our small town in Montana. Books are an opportunity for them to discover and experience things they may never get to see or do. However, it is difficult for me to keep an enthralling classroom library because my students crave books on so many subjects and my financial resources are limited.

Children need books! books! and more books! Especially kindergarten kids need to be exposed to reading through read alouds, sounding out words, and writing responses to books. My classroom is in dire need of more exciting books to keep the attention of these curious five year old kids.

You can help feed these children's growing curiosity by enlarging our supply of books. I love children because they are such eager learners. Please help me encourage these young scholars by providing resources for them to learn and understand more about the world.
