Students need hands-on experiences with math to become better real-world problem solvers! I am a 5th grade teacher in South Carolina in a school with failing math test scores.

I have tried many things over the past few years to increase my students' achievement in math, but rarely have they worked. Research has shown that students need concrete, hands-on experiences with manipulatives to gain a true understanding of math. I feel that finding these resources would be the key to improving my students' achievement in and attitude towards math.

In order to do so, I need manipulatives - and lots of them! That's why this Classroom Manipulatives Kit is perfect. It's got 12 different sets of materials that can be used for a range of hands-on and problem solving experiences. Using the manipulatives to solve the problems will make math seem less abstract and more concrete to my students. Once they understand the math at the concrete level, we can move upward from there.

By funding this project, you will make it possible for ALL of my learners to achieve. Especially the ones who need that extra something to motivate them or engage them. Without these materials, I am worried that some of my lower achieving students will continue to "slip through the cracks." Your help will truly make a difference in these children's lives.
