I teach kindergarten in California. We are facing serious district wide budget cuts that have caused any extra funds that a school usually provides to support individual classrooms to be used to fund district programs.

Kindergarteners in my district are required to read at higher reading levels than I have experienced in my 15 years of teaching. I want to provide learning experiences for my students that are motivating, fun, and foster independence. This upcoming year, I am using a researched based system in my classroom to organize learning. The Tag Reading System will be a part of the structure to foster reading independence.

I need the set of four Tag School Readers to provide an independent listening center that engages my students with real reading while I am working with small groups of students on specific reading skills. The Tag School Readers allow students to actively track the words on the page with the Reader, rather than hear a book on tape and turn the page when they hear a beep. The literacy skills the students will develop independently will be very valuable.
