"I am a fourth grade Language Arts teacher at an urban elementary school in southeast Michigan.
As with most elementary schools in our country, we are struggling to improve our students' writing scores on our state standardized assessment. Getting our kids to write is like pulling teeth! I have found that they do like to write in journals when I give them interesting prompts such as "write about a time when you got in big trouble"! As the school year draws to a close I am finding that the kids really want to hang on to their journals.
To make next year's writing even more special, I thought it would be nice if they could have a unique journal rather than just a spiral notebook. The journals I am asking for have 48 lined pages and 48 blank pages. The students can draw pictures to go along with their writing. One journal will not last for a whole school year, so I am asking for two for each child.
I believe these journals will make a real difference to my students. I think they will take great pride in them and do their best work in them so they look nice. Your help will encourage my fourth graders to become better writers and hopefully more successful on writing assessments!
My students need 175 writing journals.
The cost of this proposal is $556, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."
Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students are looking forward to their "fancy" writing journals! We write every day in spiral notebooks, but these new journals will be so much more special! Thank you again for your generosity. You have made a difference in the lives of many children!
"I hope you enjoy them and use them. I still keep journals around for ideas and thoughts and it is interesting to look back over the years to see what was important to me at the time. Remember to date them."
