Global Warming and the Future

My students need 9 DVDs sets.

I teach Transportation and Construction classes to High School students who don’t like to read or research for information. Most of my students will not work on an assignment outside the classroom. They will not do homework. My students are visual and audio learners and learn best through seeing and hearing experiences. I have been trying to prepare my students for the changing world due to global warming by having them do reports and projects. The projects and reports are designed for them to become better-informed citizens and energy efficient consumers

Because of global warming their world is going to be completely different in both transportation and construction. Helping my students be prepared and understand the reasons and effects of the changes will make them better consumers and stewards of our natural resources.

The National Geographic and History Channels have great DVDs concerning global warming. The DVD’s would make it possible for my students to utilize an instructional technique that their individual learning style is best addressed. I have 6 computers (not connected to the internet) in my room where groups of 2 to 3 students could watch different DVDs at each computer for research about global warming, they could stop the DVD and back it up and get their research information in their best method of learning. I only have one computer connected to the Internet in my classroom and that limits the research time for my students but by having the DVDs all of my students could be engaged in learning and research at the same time. The DVDs would become a library of information on global warming that students could access without leaving the room and they could complete in the classroom without homework.

The consequences of global warming is going affect everybody and our present day students will be the ones who are most affected. The future of my students is going to require them to understand they have a very important role in the changes that is going to occur in their lifetime. The DVDs I request will provide the background information for my students to be prepared for their future.
