I teach language arts and social studies for fifth graders. I teach approximately forty students. My students are rural, low-income students who do not regularly have the support they need from home.

Students are very interested in hands-on learning and anything that includes technology. My students are low readers and learn best when the material is presented in a lively format.

Through my research and experience, students learn material when it is made personal to them. Through BrainPop, there is a web link that is available for classroom use, but the subscription costs money. This site allows students to see video clips created on their level and based on our state standards. The subscriptions last twelve months. The site would allow the students to view video clips based on state standards and the content material that they are expected to learn. Brainpop presents this information through video clips, games, pop quizzes, etc. The students would have the opportunity to experience this site as a whole class, as groups and also as individuals, either through the classroom computer or the school computer lab.

This resource would provide my students the opportunities needed to make them successful. You would make it possible for my students to find a love of both literature and history. Students would also find life applicable situations through this resource. You could make this possible.
