Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a bunch of wonderful kindergarten children who are eager to learn English as a second language. As a teacher I try to find the most creative ways to actively involve my students and also to provide a learning experience using different learning styles. Some children need the visuals and active participation to learn, and that is where the art of puppetry comes in. Much research shows that children develop oral language skills when they practice the language and when they act out stories, especially English Language Learners. I would really love to provide my students with the experience and expose them to fun ways in which they can develop those skills. Currently I do not have a puppet stage or puppets in my classroom so my students can act out stories and use their imagination. The puppet theater would make learning fun and exciting for my students. It is also a great way to encourage then to use their imagination and develop vocabulary. Having a puppet stand and puppets would also encourage my students to create stories which they can later use during writers workshop. Please consider my proposal. Your donation would really help my students acquire the oral language skills they need to be successful in school and in their future endeavors.
