I teach 7th grade science in a district that is in a low tax bracket. The majority of my students are from low income families. As part of the scientific method, accurate measurement is a critical observation. Most of my students have had limited experience with metric measurements. These tools will give them a solid foundation in the metric experience. I need meter sticks and rulers so that the students can practice measuring length in meter, centimeters, decimeters, and millimeters. I need graduated cylinders and beakers so that the students can gain experience in measuring liquids. Through your generosity, I can empower my present students and future students with an understanding of how the metric system works. I know that these materials will generate the interest and enthusiasm that I am looking for.
