I am lucky enough to be the teacher of 35 students from all over the world in grades K-5. Everyday is a great new adventure and experience for them and me as well.

Thirty of these students have arrived in the United States within the last six months. Most of them are from refugee camps and have had little or no education. They represent several countries including Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Liberia, Somalia, Iraq, and the Sudan. They take great pride in seeing pictures from their respective countries and telling everyone about their cultures. With only one computer in the classroom it is difficult to have everyone viewing the pictures etc at the same time. We are in an inner city school where over 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Therefore, resources are limited.

I am requesting a computer projector to use with my computer. This will enable students to view pictures, videos and literature from their countries. This would also help me to present various educational activities available on the web with a large group of students.

With your help my students would be able to be connected to their roots while sharing their pride with classmates. Seeing their homelands, listening to native music and just getting the feeling of being back home is very important in their ability to bridge the gap between where they came from and life here in the United States. Your generous donation will enable me to better serve these precious children who have so much to offer our society. Thank you for your support and commitment to our nations future.
