I teach 2nd grade in a growing community. The school serves both monolingual and bilingual (Spanish) students.

I know how important 2-way communication is with families. My classroom website/blog is a tool to share the learning experiences of students with their families. The students have expressed interest in being the photographers and writers of our class blog. However, I don't have regular/daily access to a digital camera that students can use.

I need a digital camera that would be used by students to take photos in the classroom. This would hand over responsibility of our classroom blog to the students. They would be taking photos and writing the information (which I would be posting to the web) to share with our learning community. The opportunity would build their literacy skills, technology skills, cooperative social skills, confidence and self-esteem.

You will make it possible for my students to be active photographers and writers. This opportunity will influence their perception of what technology, photography and writing to a classroom blog is: FUN!
