Fish Feeding - Fur Feeling Fun!

My students need 10 animal puppets, 3 stamp sets, and 18 books about animals.

We have a Special Education Class for 3 and 4 year olds with Developmental Delays. Their delays may be in the area of Self-Help, Personal-Social, Motor, Speech and/or Language, or in the Thinking Area.

Animals have a universal appeal, especially for children. We would like to order puppets and books to enrich our unit on woodland animals native to our area. We are fortunate to have a state nature museum within field trip distance where the children will see samples of bird eggs from the tiny hummingbird to the great Bald Eagle. They will touch preserved through taxidermy examples of area wildlife, as well as be able to view videos about the animals they've seen. Visiting a fish hatchery as well as feeding bread to a bounty of hungry carps at the nearby spillway will round out this thrilling day!

Animal puppets are great language stimulators and captivate the preschooler's attention. Puppets will allow the children to see and compare the animals according to many varied characteristics such as color, texture, size, feeding and living habits. Books and stamp sets will allow us to discover and mark down facts about the animals to put together our own book.

Puppets allow even the shyest child to participate. We'll be able to put together group stories and script our own plays, make costumes, songs, and games to go with our puppets. Your support will benefit and enrich not only this year's class, but also will remain to enrich classes for years to come.
