My students need an iPad to help in literacy and math motor skills. One child has very limited fine motor skills due to a condition known as Williams Syndrome.
My class is full of energetic and eager to learn students. There is walking, writing, investigating on a daily basis. I want every child to learn as much as they can and in the best way. "It shouldn't matter how slowly a child learns, as long as we are encouraging them not to stop" Robert Meshan
I teach Kindergarten and we are busy everyday.
They enjoy conversations and movement. We have many stations set up for them to explore and learn. My school is a low poverty, title I, school and I buy many classroom materials myself. I would love to buy iPad for my students, but that is just not possible. In today's world, they need to learn more technology. One little girl, needs an iPad for her daily work due to her many limitations in motor skills. Her mom tells me that she is able to trace letters and numbers on hers at home without frustration. This is what I want for her in my classroom also. She has very limited fine motor skills which makes it hard to write, cut, glue, color, etc. I want to see her learning the best way she can, and this means using an iPad to aid her in ABC recognition and writing, math skills and a variety of other educational activities.
My Project
I am asking for an iPad for a little girl in my class with a condition known as Williams Syndrome. This condition has many limitations, one of which is fine motor skills. She would be able to use an iPad for letter and number tracing, letter matching, matching rhyming words, etc., with the frustration of using a pencil, scissors or glue. I want to see every child succeed and I believe this will help her succeed and learn to the best of her capabilities. Although this iPad may be used for my entire class, it will benefit this one little girl the most. She will be using this on a daily basis as a main utensil in literacy and math, whereas other students will still be using pencils, crayons, markers, scissors and glue.
This donation of an iPad would change one student's life by making her learning less stressful.
She would be able to practice letters, sounds, rhymes, numbers and many other skills without the frustration of trying to use pencils, scissors and glue. Since her motor skills are limited due to Williams Syndrome, this would help her tremendously. Won't you please help me, help her?
