Inspiring Next Generation Engineers Through Robotics

My students need eight interactive Dash Robots to further their understanding of coding by bringing it to life in the classroom.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Cova's classroom raised $1,806

My Students

My class is ready to move beyond the basic use of technology and using Dash robots is one way of doing that. They are a hands-on learning tool that teach problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills through coding. They will engage all and possibly inspire some towards future careers.

My 5th grade students each have a unique story and background but one thing that they all have in common is the growing use of technology in their daily lives.

Using the Dash robots enables students to see their coding come to life, engaging them in concepts across the curriculum in a real-world hands-on way. Dan Roberts– Seychelles said, “Technology can bring the real world into the classroom, which means that as teachers we can better prepare kids for the exciting adventures that they will face in their future.” I want technology to be meaningful and have a purpose in my classroom and robots do just that. They motivate students to think like they never have before.

My Project

Being able to incorporate the robots across the curriculum, will help motivate and engage all students. The students will be able to use these to complete STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art,and mathematics) activities. Using this technology involves informational reading and writing, math, science, and engineering. Students will collaborate, communicate, and problem solve to work towards the end product of seeing their robots perform their designs. The possibilities are limitless, strictly based on the students creativity. Using the robots in the classroom will not only enhance the learning across the curriculum, but will also open the door to introducing them to robotics, engineering, and possible future careers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that there will be one million unfilled jobs for programmers in the U.S. by 2020. As educators, it is up to us to make sure we are preparing our students to have every opportunity at success in the future.

I believe this is an opportunity to take learning to the next level.

Their excitement and enthusiasm is what motivates me to do everything I can to make this happen. The Dash robots will allow students to dig deeper into their learning in many curricular areas. They will get a head start on their technological future which is critical in the world we live in today and even more so for the what the future will hold for them.
