Podcasting

My students need an ipod and flash drive in order to create podcasts related to the science content they are learning in class. A large flash drive would be helpful for us to maintain and distribute podcasts created by the students throughout the year.

Imagine a generation of students that taps into RSS feeds and podcasts of daily news, current events and class presentations as they start each day.

Even more exciting, the presentations are created by classmates which are often enhanced by music and sound effects as the content is delivered. Although we have access to computers, we do not have an ipod for class use or a way to store large volumes of material easily. Content material will no longer be expressed in a one way dialogue between teacher and student. Students will be engaged in the development and delivery of the important concepts. They will also be able to access the material at any time and as often as they would like.

Podcasting offers an ideal tool for the creative expression of knowledge preferred by today's students and provides an exciting way for students and educators to explore and discover educational content. Podcasts are audio or video files that are automatically delivered over a network, then played back on any Mac, PC, or ipod. When students create a podcast for class, they not only learn the content in a creative way, they learn 21st-century communications skills at the same time.

Your donation will empower my students to go beyond traditional assignments by allowing them to include voice recordings, photos, movies, and sound effects to share their knowledge.
