This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students from culturally diverse backgrounds converge in small groups for help coping with social and emotional needs that come from growing up in a small rural community and limited economic resources.

We have a culturally diverse group of students.

85% of our student population is economically disadvantaged. Our school is in a small rural area that could be described as a bedroom community as many parents live here but they do not work here. We have a highly mobile population of students, meaning that a high percentage of students move in and out of our district within a short time.

My Project

Currently I do not have any chairs for students to sit on when they come to my room for small group interventions. I have a small 2' by 3' carpet of where they can sit on the floor, but it is hardly enough space for them to sit together. I do have a nice square table that I can fit 8 or more students comfortably around. We need seating.

When students have a nice work area where they feel good about their learning.

Having some bright colored stools will not only meet that need, but it will also logistical spacing needs as these particular stools will tuck neatly under the table and allow for adequate spacing around our small room.
