Every day in our Kindergarten classroom, the students engage in math centers that reinforce skills taught. Expectations for Kindergarten students are high, and it's my job to make sure they recognize numbers to 30 and are fluent with addition and subtraction facts.
My school is like a close-knit family.
I enjoy seeing my students come back to visit and to recall their favorite Kindergarten moments. My Kindergarten students every year are like my children. We work hard and play hard! They come in with limited knowledge and leave Kindergarten with the skills to succeed in first grade! I am always amazed at their accomplishments and how much they have grown academically each year.
My Project
Each year, my students enter Kindergarten with limited knowledge in mathematics. Although most students can count to 10, they show extreme difficulties recognizing and writing these numbers. By the end of Kindergarten, students are expected to identify numbers beyond 30 and become fluent with addition and subtraction facts.
I am requesting supplies for math centers that will help reinforce important number skills. These centers will keep students engaged while working their brains! My students need a math stories library, 6 magnetic ten-frames, markers, math games and other supplies for math centers.
Students participate in math centers every day.
The only math centers that have been used in my classroom are centers that are teacher made. I have limited resources and limited centers. With a variety of supplies for new math centers, my students will become actively engaged and find center time fun. These centers will reinforce the necessary math skills needed to succeed in first grade.
