Some of the things I was able to purchase with the funds were language games, classroom supplies, and STEM kits. All of these materials have enhanced my students' learning in so many ways. The language-based games are a huge hit, and students often ask to play them. They have been especially helpful for my newcomers and emerging learners as they develop their vocabulary and build confidence in speaking. Furthermore, my students use the whisper phones to practice reading fluency. In the spring we look forward to using the STEM kits to build wind-generated robots. There is no doubt students will learn a lot through this hands-on experience. I am also grateful for the materials that make the classroom environment better. The floor cushions have allowed me to fully utilize my space and allow for more collaborative learning. The timers allow me to manage my time better and the magnetic hooks allow me to post much needed anchor charts. We are already using the decodable books, magnetic chips, and magnetic letters every day during our intervention and small group reading blocks. One special moment that stands out was during independent reading: a student who had previously been hesitant to read aloud proudly finished an entire decodable book on their own and asked if they could read it again. The magnetic chips have also been incredibly helpful as students map out sounds, making phonemic awareness more concrete and accessible.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and genuine. They were eager to explore the books, carefully turning pages and pointing out words they recognized. The magnetic letters were an instant hit—students couldn't wait to start building words and changing sounds. Many students expressed how the tools made reading and spelling feel more like a game, which has boosted both engagement and confidence.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps include deepening our phonics instruction by connecting sound work directly to reading and writing. Students will continue using the decodable texts to practice new phonics patterns, while the magnetic chips and letters will support spelling and word-building activities during guided practice. Your donation has given our students the tools they need to grow as confident, capable readers, and we are so grateful that you gave us a peek into your hearts by investing in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1760816776020,"projectUrl":"project/1st-grade-literacy-materials/9837342/","projectTitle":"1st Grade Literacy Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10315605_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y231&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760628447619","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10315605"},{"teacherId":4545646,"projectId":9355459,"letterContent":"Thank you for taking the time to read, choose, and donate to my Donor's Choose project.
