My students need an assortment of high interest books for individual free reading times.

I teach fifth grade in a high-need community. My students have a wide range of reading abilities; from high-level readers to those struggling to get meaning from texts.

My classroom library has been depleted over the years, and the most enjoyed books are either in sad shape, or are missing altogether. The students often head to the bookshelf but return to me saying they can't find anything they would like to read for their free reading period.

We need to replenish the supply of good, interesting books for these 5th graders. We do what we can, but the students are finding it difficult to find books they want to read. By purchasing a selection of high interest books, we hope to reverse the situation. We hope to make a trip to the bookshelf the beginning of an adventure in reading. Some students don't have libraries at home, and this could be their "library home."

Your contributions will make it possible for these 5th grade students to find quality literature to read. The best way I know to improve student's reading is to get them reading. Your donations can do just that.
