Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm 3rd year teacher for a 1st grade bilingual classroom deep in the heart of Texas. We are in a low-income school and all but one of my kids gets free lunch.
Do you remember the times of rock-n-roll? I wasn't there but it sure seems like people really enjoyed themselves with the music. They are still listening to that today. Well, that is what I want for my kids. To remember school with love and a passion for reading and learning.
That is why I thought, "I want them to rock-n-read." I want a center where they can have a variety of books and rock in a chair. They will also have stuffed animals to read to or they could read to someone else. They will enjoy, love and look forward to reading and that is something they will remember and keep forever.
Our rocking and reading can be in your hands. Please give them the rhythm they need to keep on rocking and reading for a wonderful and successful future.
