My Students

My students are full of heart and hope. I want to inspire a passion to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams and goals.

Most of my students are ethnically diverse, inner-city students in Los Angeles.

70% of them are bussed to my school and travel long and far to get a quality education. I want to do the best I can and inspire them with content that makes them want to read and makes them curious about the world around them. I want them to see how what they read is connected to their lives and be inspired by the stories of others.

My Project

I am requesting a class set of the inspiring book "Reach: 40 Black Men Speak on Living, Leading, and Succeeding" and various other book titles of inspiring stories for our classroom library. We will study their decisions in life, how they overcame obstacles, how they built financial literacy and success, and how they went in search of their dreams. I want my students to see that what they read is connected to their lives and that they can learn from the stories of others. Through bringing role models into the classroom, through literature and real life, I hope to inspire them to know that they too can achieve and create the life they want for themselves.

The curriculum students have access to can make or break their experience in school.

As a teacher new to my school this year, I want to inspire students to shape their destinies and futures. I hope you will consider supporting this project and helping build literacy get inspired to achieve their dreams. Thank you!
