I am amazed more and more each day of the inability for adolescent students to recognize classic authors and texts. My 7th & 8th grade English/Language Arts students (all 100 of them) have a classroom library with current adolescent literature. There are some great selections the students really enjoy, but filling the classroom library with a few classics will surely benefit them in the long run. I yearn for the day my students can say, "Hey, that's Mark Twain!" In the meantime, I am thankful for the opportunity presented to myself as a teacher and my students who are completely unaware of what they're missing out on.
