Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I've been teaching second grade at in Louisiana for two years now. I love what I do, but more importantly I love my kids! All of my children come from over crowded poverty areas. They may not have many tangible items, but they have strong wills and loving hearts.

Science is not something that is typically seen in a below average classroom. We are primarily focused on the children's literacy level and basic math skills. My children have expressed an interest in science since we've been reading about nature in Language Arts.

I would love to be able to give my kids the opportunity to develop basic knowledge about plants. This is why I'm asking for plant specimens for the class to analyze. We also need a Rootvue so that we may experience the growing process, and an activity tub so we can all take part in this experience.

You will give my children the opportunity to experience a new venture that would otherwise be taken for granted. Please help me to give these underprivileged students the chance to explore and enjoy the field of science.
